Stranraer is the largest town in the south western area of Scotland. The Stranraer ferry port lies at the head of Loch Ryan, on the northern area of the isthmus that joins the Rhins of Galloway to the Scottish Mainland, and is one of the most popular ports for the cities of Glasgow and Edinburgh. The town is located only a short journey from the English border, and is less than two hours from Glasgow. Due to the town's proximity to Ireland it makes for an excellent starting point for a journey to the Emerald Isle thanks to the short crossing times and their frequency. |
