Although it is one of the popular Sporades Islands off of the coast of Greece, Alonissos is one of the least travelled islands in the Aegean Sea, meaning that there is more of it for you to discover. Fruit trees cover the majority of the island, and it easy to taste the juicy olives, grapes and figs that grow on the hills by trying them out at any local tavern.
Not many people know that this island has an incredible coastline; there are over 50 beaches (three of the best beaches being Milia, Marpunta and Agios Dimitros) just waiting to be explored, with some of the cleanest and clearest waters in Sporades - perfect for swimming or lazing on a lilo! The Alonissos Marine Park is a must; it's a cluster of caves where you can find the Mediterranean Monk Seal if you look hard enough, and with the island only being 2.8 miles wide at its widest point, you're never that far from the ocean.
