This Italian town is a busy Sardinian fishing village situated near the Tyrrhenian Sea, about 3 miles west of the town of Tortoli. Arbatax is best known for its amazing `fondali' - underwater reefs that are a real favourite with snorkelers and are full of exotic and colourful plants and sea creatures.
Bird lovers will also love it here; ornithologists flock here to view the incredible array of avian wildlife, and dozens of rare European birds can be spotted on this beautiful island if you look hard enough. Although the town does have some fantastic restaurants, many recommend `S'Orroali Manna' in the nearby town of Villanova Strisalli a few miles west of Arbatax. It serves incredible meat dishes like roast pork and cured ham, and even has a few small rooms to stay in. |
