The fastest route between Bergen and Oslo by car is the route RV7: Oslo, Gol and Eidfjord to Bergen. Alternatively take the E16 and go through the world's longest tunnel - The L`rdalstunnelen, over 24 kilometres long! From Oslo go to Honefoss, then Leira, Fagerness, L`rdalsoyri, Aurland, through the L`rdalstunnelen to Gudvangen and then on to Bergen.
Bergen, a European City of Culture, offers an interesting ramble through the old streets past the colourful wooden houses of the old wharf "Bryggen", a trip to the fish market or an ascent to the top of Mount Floien or Mount Ulriken is a must for any visitor, both affording marvellous views of Bergen and the beautiful fjords. The old Hanseatic city of Bergen is also called the "gateway to the fjords".
