Fleetwood is located in the Wyre district of Lancashire, and forms part of Greater Blackpool. Fleetwood was the first planned community in the Victorian era, and for the greater part of the 20th century the town was a prominent deep sea fishing port, but after the decline of the fishing industry Fleetwood has had to alter its economy.

The town is a quiet and calm seaside resort which offers a deep contrast when compared to the lively nature of nearby Blackpool. The town houses a local museum in one of the town's old Victorian customs buildings, and has a lovely beach. The town's biggest attraction, and most predominant feature, however is `The Mount', which is a seven acre park the faces the sea front, and has a pavilion and clock tower located at its highest point.
