GLD Lines

GLD Lines operated a ferry service between Italy and France, linking the ports of Toulon and Civitavecchia. GLD ceased operations on the 4th of March 2009, after losses on the route became unsupportable due to a substantial decrease in freight traffic.

GLD Lines (Grimaldi Louis Dreyfus Armateurs) is the joint venture of a partnership between two big European ferry companies, the Grimaldi Group and Louis Dreyfus Armateurs. The partnership came together to work the new `sea motorway' route linking the two stunning Mediterranean favourites Rome (via Civitavecchia port) and the south of France (via Toulon).

GLD Lines vessels offered a high standard of speed and comfort; Their ferry Eurostar Valencia can reach a speed of 22 knots and performed the journey in only 14 hours. Onboard there were cabins, suites, a self-service restaurant, bars and many more top-quality facilities.
