Situated in the south coast of Finland, Hanko is a beautiful archipelago with stunning views and a relaxing, peaceful atmosphere. The town is popular in the summer because of this, and tourism has meant that there are now some incredible restaurants and shops around the picturesque marina. However, even in the summer months it is still very relaxing, especially along the 30km of almost untouched sandy beaches, amongst which stand the beautiful villas that were made for visiting royals from Russia many decades ago.
If you visit in early July, you may be able to catch the annual Hangon Regatta yacht race, where almost the whole of Hanko come down to watch or support. There is also a nature reserve on the outskirts of the town, Uddskatan, where a guided tour is highly recommended and incredibly interesting. |
