The port of Kimolos is situated in the town of Psathi, which is a very short distance away from the capital of Kimolos Town. From Kimolos ferry port you can take a minibus to the main town but it is easily reachable by foot too, taking roughly 20 minutes to walk from the port to the town. Around Psathi there are a few cafes and markets as well as a few small amenities.
The name Kimolos comes from the word `Kimolia' which means `chalk' in Greek, relating to the stunning white cliffs around the island. Kimolos has some fantastic beaches, and then warm, golden sands and the clear, blue seas are home to the Monk Seal, a species of seal that has a large population on the island of which is possible to see on specialised boat trips around the Greek Mediterranean Sea.
