    Nova Star Cruises

Nova Star Cruises is a ferry company operating in Nova Scotia and Maine. Their ship, MV Nova Star, is a Ropax cruiseferry operating seasonally on the Gulf of Maine between Portland, Maine and Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. The service was started on May 15, 2014.

    About MV Nova Star Ship

The vessel was built by ST Marine in Singapore in 2011. It is a very modern ship, where you can find a large variety of cruise-ship like features, including three restaurants and three bars, a casino gaming facility, a fitness centre and a duty-free retail shop. You can also find a children play area, live on-board entertainment, a spa, an art gallery, a smoking lounge (located near the bow), and a movie theatre.

The vessel has 163 cabins, consisting of variations of suites, ocean view cabins, interior cabins, and wheelchair-accessible cabins. There are also 254 individually assigned (reserved) recliner seats to use as a place for rest or sleeping. The boat has capacity for 1,215 passengers. The ship can carry 336 car-equivalents and/or 38 commercial vehicles (semi-trailer rigs or buses) and commensurately fewer cars.

    Traveling with pets

There are 11 kennels for dogs and 12 kennels for cats on-board of Nova Star Cruise. Pets are only allowed to be carried on-board in these kennels and cannot remain in the vehicles. The kennels are located in a restricted area, so owners will not be permitted to visit their pets during the voyage. A crew member will check on the pets in kennels regularly, but dogs will not be let out or walked during the voyage. Due to the wide range of dietary needs, we are unable to provide food for your pet. Dogs must be on a leash and muzzled at all times when outside of a vehicle, in the terminal, or being taken by their owners to the kennel area. Owners are responsible for cleaning up after their pets when they are not kenneled. Cats are also required to have a rabies vaccination certificate to travel between the USA and Canada.

Nova Star Cruises complies with the Americans With Disabilities Act, which allows trained service animals to accompany owners with various disabilities. Certified Service Animals are the only animals permitted on passenger decks and in passenger cabins, and owners will be required to show appropriate documentation.
