The Pozzallo ferry port is surrounded by two attractive beaches, amazing historical sights and some traditional local restaurants. In common with much of Sicily, very little is open in the afternoon so be sure to visit the beautiful little shops before their closing time. Nature lovers can visit the "Natural Reserve Macchia Forest River Irminio" which is situated near the archaeological area of Kamarina, the Greek colony founded in 598 BC from Syracuse. It's well worth visiting the Archaeological Museum of Kamarina which preserves the archaeological finds from the city, from the necropolis of Kamarina and the neighboring territory.

    Seamless crossing on very comfortable ferry

    • The crossing over to Pozzallo went really smoothly and couldn't fault it at all - however ONCE WE GOT TO POZZALLO PORT WE WERE HOUNDED BY TAXI DRIVERS TRYING TO FORCE US TO PAY OVER-THE-TOP PRICES FOR A JOURNEY TO SYRACUSE - they tried to charge us and two otherladies 145 EUROS!!!!! YOU WOULD BE WISE TO TELL TRAVELLERS ON YOUR FERRY ABOUT THIS AS IT WAS INTIMIDATING WITH THEM FOLLOWING US AROUND THE TOWN BADGERING US TO BOOK THEM Quote .. THERE ARE NO TRAINS TODAY, THEYRE ON STRIKE... IT'S BETTER YOU TAKE A TAXI ... unquote!!!! Eventually we DID take a taxi at 20 each with the two Argentinian ladies we'd met. We would never take a ferry to Pozzallo again, preferring a ferry to a larger place such as Catania or Palermo.
