Chania is the second-largest city in Crete, situated in the north-west of the island. Although closely connected to Greece, the atmosphere on this beautiful reflects that of times when it was owned by the Venetians and the Turks. Chania is split up into two sections; the old town and the modern city. In the Old Town, you will find stunning Greek, Venetian, Turkish and traditional Cretan architecture and shops, as well as Byzantine monuments from hundreds of years ago. In the new section of town, you will find cinemas, theatres, jazz clubs, bars and other things that cater for everyone - Chania is known for being a very family-orientated town.
