The Hull ferry port is located on the river Humber and is approximately 25 miles from the river's mouth and the North Sea. The city of Hull is located in the East Riding of Yorkshire, and is one of the county's biggest cities. Hull was the parliamentary seat of William Wilberforce, who set in motion the events that lead to the abolition of the slave trade in Britain.
Hull's port and industrial facilities led to the city receiving heavy bombing during the Second World War which left much of the city's centre destroyed and 95% of its housing damaged, but despite this the city's centre has been dramatically rebuilt and restored and houses many amazing cultural and historic sites. Amongst the city's landmarks are the KC Stadium and the Hull Truck theatre, as well as several large shopping centres, and miles of industry along the riverbanks. |
