The port of Puerto del Rosario, also known as Puerto Rosario, is in the capital city of Fuerteventura. Around the port area are several shops, cafes and restaurants but you can quickly and easily take a bus to the nearby resorts of Caleta de Fuste or Corralejo. Also, the port is easily accessible by road if you have hired or brought a car to the island.
The harbour is in fact the oldest part of the town and many say one of the prettiest parts too. In the centre of the town itself there are some excellent shops, restaurants, bars and cafés, as well as the very popular Casa de la Cultura (House of Culture) where theatrical plays, art exhibitions and concerts of all types of music are held. If you are a fan of the poet Miguel de Unamuno, his old home has been transformed into a museum and is well worth a visit, and if you're in town in February you can see the town's superb annual carnival.
