Bilbao's ferry port is found just off the A8 at Santurtzi on the edge of Bilbao city. The ferry port is popular as a starting point for those looking to explore Spain or Portugal, as it cuts out the long drive through France onboard some of the most luxurious of ferries.

Bilbao is a distinctive, bubbling city set on the Nervion and surrounded by beautiful countryside, with a fine selection of hotels and restaurants, especially in its famed Old Town. As well as the famous Guggenheim Museum, the city acts as home for the Fine Arts Museum which is recognised as one of Spain's finest art museums and the Maritime Museum which can be found on the banks of the Nervion. Another of Bilbao's claims to fame is that it was featured at the start of the 1999 James Bond film The World Is Not Enough.

    No frills to Spain

    • Brittany Ferries economy service is just that. No frills at a reasonable price. Only problem going was a toilet that although flushing made a noise like a jet plane, it actually hurt your ears. The flushing action went press flush, cover ears as quickly as possible and it was still incredibly loud. Reported twice during voyage but nothing done about it.

    One way trip to Bilbao

    • Getting on and off the ferry no problems staff very efficient and professional The cabin accommodation was very good apart from having to buy an adaptor to charge phone's etc Bar price's not too bad but food not too good the onboard shop was small and spparce but adequate most of the onboard staff were pleasant but a couple were serly and looked miserable Overall an okay trip but I think £475 for a one way trip was very expensive Regards Nick

    Portsmouth to Bilbao

    • First leg of the car journey to Palma Mallorca for my daughters wedding. Couldn't have asked for a better start. Simple check in, efficient boarding and comfortable cabin with good facilities. Would certainly recommend.

    Relaxing journey

    • Pleasant voyage with no delays at either end unlike the slow customs check Le Harvre.

    Ferry To Far

    • although we found the ship and facilities more that adequate we were surprised at how many dogs were on board and subsequently you could end up in a cabin previously occupied by a dog. We also found the journey boring with nothing to do or occupy us, in future I think I would rather spend the time driving down through France and spend the ferry fare on some decent hotels for overnight stops through France.
