Bilbao Routes

Bilbao's ferry port is found just off the A8 at Santurtzi on the edge of Bilbao city. The ferry port is popular as a starting point for those looking to explore Spain or Portugal, as it cuts out the long drive through France onboard some of the most luxurious of ferries.

Bilbao is a distinctive, bubbling city set on the Nervion and surrounded by beautiful countryside, with a fine selection of hotels and restaurants, especially in its famed Old Town. As well as the famous Guggenheim Museum, the city acts as home for the Fine Arts Museum which is recognised as one of Spain's finest art museums and the Maritime Museum which can be found on the banks of the Nervion. Another of Bilbao's claims to fame is that it was featured at the start of the 1999 James Bond film The World Is Not Enough.

A comfortable and good value crossing with one big exception- wifi and roaming charges
    • We found the facilities adequate and comfortable. Our main problem was with the wifi. It was simply not possible to log on to wifi, and we were not alone. Despite data roaming turned off on our mobiles, it appears that whilst trying to log on to the ship's 'free' wifi, we were logged on automatically and without our knowledge or agreement to what our usual provider said was 'Vodaphone Maritme'. Both of us incurred high roaming charges which our provider, Three, kindly waived. Brittany Ferries should not be offering a wifi service which is not accessible, and risks additional charges.

    Nice experience
    • The cabin was far in excess of expectations. I have had smaller hotel rooms.

    Satisfactory
    • Being disabled the staff were brilliant and having a cabin which fully accommodated my needs and being directly by the duty free, bar and general walk was handy my husband when popped out as still close if I needed him. Over all a comfortable and pleasant 1st time experience.

    Mostly good
    • Cabin was fine, beds were comfortable. Seating round the boat was adequate though would have liked to find some more comfortable chairs for such a long trip. Food was OK,but the soup was like dishwater. Staff were lovely!

    Quality
    • First time using your shop and services. Will most certainly be booking again. Services and quality is off an excellent standard. Well done to all the staff for your hard work and professional service. Annette and Malcolm from Bedfordshire
