Caronte & Tourist Ferries is a private ferry company, which has been on the ferry market for the past forty years. The Caronte & Tourist Ferries started the ferry business in June 19th, 1965. Nowadays, the Caronte & Tourist S.p.A. fleet together with that of Caronte & Tourist Lines S.p.A. own 17 ships which are in use on the Messina - Villa San Giovanni, Messina - Salerno - Messina, Milazzo - Eolian Islands route. Most of the of the vessels were built in Italian ship yards between the end of the seventies and the early '90s.
