Situated on the River Clyde, Largs has everything you would expect from a Scottish seaside resort. There is a regular ferry service to the islands and the famous Waverley Paddle Steamer makes regular trips from Largs during the summer months.

Getting to/from Largs

When travelling from Glasgow/Glasgow International Airport is drive down the coast, through Greenock. From Glasgow, head west on the M8 towards Greenock, and then from Greenock head south on the A78 towards Largs. You will pass through Wemyss Bay and Skelmorlie before arriving at the north end of Largs. Largs town centre can be reached by following the main road which runs adjacent to the promenade, offering lovely views of the Clyde and the Islands.

But if you're driving from Prestwick Airport, you head north on the A78 and follow signs for Greenock and Largs. You will pass the exits for Troon and Irvine as you go, and then you will pass through the '3 Towns' - Stevenston, Saltcoats and Ardrossan, before following the coast road through Seamill, West Kilbride and Fairlie to arrive in the south end of Largs where you will see the Marina and Pencil Monument.

There is a ferry running every 15 minutes during the summer months and every 30 minutes throughout the winter. A bus service meets each ferry to take you on the short trip to the centre of Millport town.
