Le Havre Information

Le Havre ferry port is one of the largest passenger port in France. Le Havre ferry port is ideally located a short drive from the city centre and is very well indicated throughout town. Founded in 1517, Le Havre has grown to be the 2nd largest port in France and is close to Paris at just a couple of hours drive.

Located in the dockland area of Le Havre, Hangar 22 is a maritime museum offering a comprehensive insight into France's seafaring history. Quartier St Francois, also situated in Le Havre's docklands area is the centre of Le Havre's fishing industry and home to award-winning seafood restaurants. The main shopping street in Le Havre is Avenue Rene Coty, which is also near the Rene Coty Shopping centre. This 3 level shopping centre is home to over 70 shops and boutiques.

Portsmouth Information

One of England's busiest and most important ports, Portsmouth ferry port is located on England's southern coastline and thanks to the local bus networks and the road system it is only a short journey from the city's centre. One of the UK's largest and busiest ports, Portsmouth has a host of facilities for passengers, including a café, bar, bureau de change, ATM and 516 space multi-storey car park.

Portsmouth is the only city in England to have been constructed on an island, and the city is also the historic home of the Royal Navy and has the world's oldest, still functioning dry dock. The city's dry docks attract many visitors, as they currently house three British battleships, the most famous of them, the H.M.S Victory. But Portsmouth's attractions do not stop with the dry docks and Naval Centre, its waterfront houses, the Spinnaker tower, a wide range of shops and boutiques as well as many restaurants and cafes for visitors to relax and unwind in.

    Ferry trip
    • A good overall experience on a ferry advertised as providing a cheap service. Only real criticism is access to and from the car deck on loading and unloading. The ferry was not full to capacity yet cars were loaded on the highest deck and many had difficulty negotiating the steep access ramp and tight turning angles.

Choose your reclining seat location with care
    • A calm crossing, on time. We hoped to get some sleep on board, but made the mistake of settling down near a children's activity area. The noise level ruled out all slumber, but we were too tired to re-locate. We were close to a self-service restaurant, which was either hugely busy with long queues, or was deserted because there was nothing to eat.

    leaving the ferry
    • what a farce,it took 3 quarters of an hour to leave the ferry as we were put on the top deck and everyone has to reverse off. it was like faulty towers. look for a different system. it clearly does not work
