About Methana
Methana is a town and a former municipality on the Peloponnese peninsula, Greece. The Méthana is actually a volcano that emerged from the sea. On Methana there are thermal springs and mofettes (gas exhalations), the place became a popular spa town attracting many tourists from Europe.
Getting around Methana
There is a regular ferry service from Méthana to Póros, Aegina, Hydra, Spetses and Hermione and by hydrofoil to Póros, Aegina, Hydra, Spetses, Hermione, Porto Heli, Tolo, Nafplion and Monemvasia. If you travel by car: take the Athens Corinth National Road and after the Corinth Canal head to Epidaurus and then Galatas. Before reaching Galatas follow the Straits connecting the Peloponnese to Méthana Peninsula. The distance is 165 km and the journey lasts about 2 hours.
