Roatan Island
Roatan Island is located between the islands of Utila and Guanaja. It is the largest of Honduras' Bay Islands. The island is about 77 kilometres long, and less than 8 kilometres across at its widest point. It consists of two municipalities: José Santos Guardiola in the east and Roatán, including the Cayos Cochinos, further south in the west. The Roatan Island is an important cruise ship, scuba diving and eco-tourism destination in Honduras. Tourism is its hugely important economic sector. Fishing is also an important source of income for islanders.

Roatan Island Ferry
Roatan Ferry, operated by Safe Way Maritime Transportation. The ferry boat is called "the Galaxy Wave", it is a 152 foot long catamaran yacht that gives you all the security, comfort and luxury. There are 250 seats for regular ticket holders, available in the lower air-conditioned cabin. Outside, an additional 150 seats are available on the second level for those who enjoy the outdoors, and first class passengers can enjoy excellent views from one of the 60 seats on the Galaxy Wave's second floor.
Roatan Island's Ferry Terminal
The Roatan ferry terminal is easily accessible, located in the center of the island. More space has allowed to improve baggage handling, and the new facility also enables to offer ample free parking, unlike the old terminal that was previously located adjacent to the street in Coxen Hole. The parking at the La Ceiba ferry terminal is not free, situated in the main Muelle de Cabotaje port. The terminal is also just a short taxi ride from the city center and the Hedman Alas bus station. While waiting to board the ferry, you can take advantage of the following convenient amenities and services:

- Restaurant-Café: sells snacks, such as baleadas, pastelitos, sandwiches and sweet treats, as well as breakfast and lunch with menus that change each week. Payment is accepted in cash-only (lempiras or US dollars).
- ATM Machine: issues lempira currency, but there is also a local bank branch located at the terminal which can change lempiras to dollars or vice versa.
