The port of Ullapool is the main terminus for most ferries to Stornoway (on the Isle of Lewis) and situated in the heart of the town, so although the port is small, most major facilities and amenities will be in the actual town of Ullapool.
There are many things to do in this town, from visiting museums to sampling local malt whiskies - you just have to explore to find out what's available in this exciting town. Many visitors like to go to the very pretty Inverewe Gardens or visit the Victorian spa town of Strathpeffer. For musical fans, Ullapool frequently has live bands and singers in its bars and pubs which really get you into the Scottish spirit, and the town is also home to the Ullapool Guitar Festival, a festival that is likely to get the islanders partying all night long.
If you are a nature-lover, Ullapool has a lot to offer; there are several bird sanctuaries on the island as well as the opportunity to see seals and porpoises on a boat trip to the beautiful Summer Isles, just off the coast of Ullapool.
