Venezia Lines began ferry crossings in May 2003 and offers a reliable high-speed service across the North Adriatic. Venezia Lines is jointly owned by Virtu Ferries of Malta and ACTV, the public transport company of Venice, and links Venice to the coastal resorts of Croatia, as well as providing the fastest service between Bari and Durres.
Venezia Lines has 3 high-speed catamarans in its fleet, including the San Frangisk and San Pawl which combine the best characteristics of hovercraft and catamarans, providing a pleasant journey at a very low cost. The San Gwann that serves the Bari to Durres route is one of the fastest catamarans in the world; with a top speed of 40 knots it does the journey in 4 hours, half the time of a conventional crossing.
