Zamboanga City is a highly urbanized city located in Mindanao, Philippines. It has a population of approximately 807,129 people. Zamboanga is the 6th most populous and 3rd largest city by land area in the Philippines. This place is the commercial and industrial center of the Zamboanga Peninsula Region.
After independence from Spain on May 1899, Zamboanga became the Republica de Zamboanga with Zamboangueño Chavacano as its official language and Spanish as its co-official language.

Zamboanga City seaport is located at the western tip of the Eastern Mindanao Peninsula facing the Basilan Strait. Its Hinterland road network is linked to the main road traversing the eastern side of the Peninsula to Misamis province and the rest of Mindanao. The main port gate is located at R.T. Lim Boulevard. There is an auxiliary gate which serves as an entry/exit point for passengers and pedestrians located near the passenger terminal shed at the eastern end of the marginal wharf. Telegraph and long distance telephone services are available at the port's passenger terminal shed.
