    Hovertravel is the world's oldest commercial hovercraft operator, and provides the fastest ferry service across the Solent, with sailings taking just under 10 minutes!

    The service takes you directly onto the shore at Ryde or Southsea terminal with access to large carparks and great travel connections, and the hovercraft have a capacity of up to 130 passengers and a top speed of over 45 knots. For greater access to the Southsea terminal, there is a `Hoverbus' service from various locations in Portsmouth, including the Portsmouth Harbour and train station.

      NO BOVVER WITH A HOVER!

      • If you want to pop over to Ryde and fancy a quick (10 minutes) smooth ride, then go for the hovercraft. It's a doddle and the car park (though pricey at £12 for more than 8 hours) is right next to the hoverport. I gather that the ferry takes much longer, so maybe more scope for sea-sickness? My only disappointment was that ticket prices were exactly the same at the hoverport as the ones I booked online - though you can probably save on the cost of parking by booking in advance.

      Relaxing day out

      • Booking with Ferry Savers was very easy and straightforward. And I saved over £8 on the fare. The trip over in the hovercraft only took ten minutes, Which gave me longer to enjoy a lovely day out. Would definitely recommend Ferrysavers and Hover trave.

      Brilliant way to travel

      • We travelled from the Isle of Wight over to Southsea and we were surprised by the amount of people waiting for the next hovercraft. The waiting room is spacious and comfortable and the staff are very friendly and polite. When the hovercraft had emptied, we went on board and within a few minutes we were on our way. Its a very exhilarating experience and we were in Southsea in about 10 minutes. The only problem is that your view out of the windows are obscured by the spray but this is to be expected from high speed sea crossings. When we returned to the terminal for our return journey, we were pleased to see that we were going on the new hovercraft. How smooth and fast was this! Wow, a lovely ride back to the Isle of Wight and this finished off a wonderful anniversary treat. Thank you Hovertravel. We will be using you again.
