Southsea is a coastal resort located on the southern coast of Portsea Island, although the town has merged with Portsmouth over the years and is now only one mile from Portsmouth city centre. Southsea is only a small town but has grown to be a thriving commercial area and has a large variety of high street shop chains and independent traders, including a lovely shopping district right on the sea-front, with plenty of places to stop and relax between shops. Southsea has a wide range of attractions within the town, for example the fascinating D-Day museum and the Royal Marines museum.

    Brilliant way to travel

    • We travelled from the Isle of Wight over to Southsea and we were surprised by the amount of people waiting for the next hovercraft. The waiting room is spacious and comfortable and the staff are very friendly and polite. When the hovercraft had emptied, we went on board and within a few minutes we were on our way. Its a very exhilarating experience and we were in Southsea in about 10 minutes. The only problem is that your view out of the windows are obscured by the spray but this is to be expected from high speed sea crossings. When we returned to the terminal for our return journey, we were pleased to see that we were going on the new hovercraft. How smooth and fast was this! Wow, a lovely ride back to the Isle of Wight and this finished off a wonderful anniversary treat. Thank you Hovertravel. We will be using you again.
