Agaete is one of the municipalities of Gran Canaria with an endless choice of beaches, although they are mainly rocky and difficult to get to.
The most visited beach is la Playa de Las Nieves, located between the marina and the old dock. Primarily a stony beach, it has calm waters and a seaside walk with restaurants and small shops. This is the place with the largest number of visitors and tourists, particularly at weekends and therefore the most commercial area.
Getting to Agaete/Gran Canaria
Fred Olsen Ferries operates eight fast ferries a day from Puerto de las Nieves for the hour-long trip to Santa Cruz de Tenerife. There is a free bus connection to Las Palmas (Parque Santa Catalina). Returning, the bus leaves Las Palmas 1½ hours before the ferry is due to depart.

The port of Agaete is the closest to Tenerife, which takes approximately 1 hour to get to. It has regular connecting services. Car hire is available in the main port, if you are brave to explore the narrow mountain roads this way.
