About Amsterdam's Ijmuiden port

There are actually 2 terminals: The "old" ferry terminal called Felison Terminal and the brand new Felison Cruise Terminal. The old ferry terminal is only used by small cruise ships. And larger ships are using the new Felison Cruise Terminal. As it takes about 2 to 3 hours to sail from IJmuiden through the locks to Amsterdam, you will actually have a little bit more time for sightseeing.

The ferry port of Ijmuiden is a few miles outside of Amsterdam itself, only a short journey along the A9, with excellent public transport serving the route. Passenger facilities at the terminal are limited to a convenience store, a gift shop and newsagents, with vending machines offering a range of hot and cold snacks.

Amsterdam is often regarded as one of the most colourful and interesting cities in the world, and this reputation is richly deserved. Where else do you find so many places of interest, famous museums, cozy pubs, fun shops and (flower) markets? Cultural, vibrant, curious and charming with tranquil waterways, tree-lined canals, and crooked gabled houses, Amsterdam is a highlight of European travel. The districts of Rembrandtplein and Leidseplein offer nightlife as relaxed or outrageous and you want, but one of the real beauties of Amsterdam is that there is an aspect of the city that would enchant every traveller.

    Good alternative to flying
    • As usual, an efficient service with basic but comfortable cabins and a good transfer to central Amsterdam. Parking at Shields is expensive, but otherwise no complaints.

    Good ferry route
    • Food options are limited it's a full meal or a pastry, the option to buy a sandwich would be good, as a captive audience a full meal is not always what you want.
