Caen's ferry port is around 3 miles from Caen at Ouistreham Harbour and is clearly sign posted from Caen and the surrounding area. A large university town, Caen has its own historic castle and two magnificent Abbeys. Following World War 2 the town was left devastated by bombings, however it has managed to rebuild itself to become the thriving centre it is today. The town's interesting museums and great shopping facilities, along with its rich history combine to ensure that Caen is more than just a port; it is a popular tourist destination in itself.

    Sleeping
    • An excellent ferry, as good as any hotel but the beds leave a lot to be desired. I'm definitely not fat, I had a couple of inches spare on the narrow bunk bed and got at least two hours sleep, never again.

    ok
    • disappointed to find, after a delay in boarding, the a la carte restaurant closed for our crossing, we had not eaten especially to eat here and had to eat in the 'lorry driver' section. If this is a regular occurance, we should be informed by either the ferry company or the booking agents

Not awful but not sure i would use again
    • Was a bit of a fiasco of a trip, rough weather meant that both our outward and inward ferries changed so we ended up with more driving and longer crossings than planned. The facilities on board were fine but the crossings were still very choppy and everyone was sick at some stage of the crossings. It does not make me want to use one again

    Like a floating hotel
    • Really enjoyed the trip, it was quite a new ferry and was clean and comfortable. Could not turn off the lights in cabin overnight though.
