About Fethiye
The port of Fethiye is a very small port in Turkey. The quayside is fronted with shady tea gardens and just across the street from the quay is the old town's shopping district. Near the center, a lively day market is held every Tuesday. Fethiye's history is as old as the Trojan War: in legend the city was founded by Telmessos, the son of Apollo and the daughter of Antenor. A Roman theater sits just at the harbor, a Byzantine castle presides over the city from a hilltop and on the cliff faces surrounding the city there are Lycian rock-cut tombs of temple form. Fethiye is an ideal spot to begin your voyage due to its central location along the Lycian coast.
