Calais ferry port is one of the busiest ports in Europe with up to 48 ferries a day departing from here on one of the busiest shipping lanes in the world. Eurostar trains depart from Calais Frethun station which is close to the Eurotunnel terminal, just outside Calais off junction 42 of the A16.

    Changing ticket time
    • I arrived early and wanted to change to an earlier train. Initially they wanted £89 for the change. I refused and left. Realising I had to spend a night on the beach in Calais I relented and returned. This time the charge was £72.50. I agreed to pay. When they processed the payment the cost was £5...yes only £5. What on earth is going on. I went from angry to elated. Utterly bemusing!

    Through the Tunnel going home
    • We were amazed at the swift check-in and we were put onto the train that was much earlier than our booking which meant that we were back home in Yorkshire a couple of hours earlier than we expected. Wonderful and very reasonable return cost.
