11 Sep 2019Ferry to Tanger Med

The ferry from Algeciras to Tanger Med was delayed by 2 hours and checking in was chaotic. I had a taxi arranged at Tanger Med so I had to make a number of calls to keep taxi informed. On arrival we had to carry large bag down 2 flights of steep stairs which wasn't good and was dangerous. No-one spoke english so it was difficult to understand where to find taxi. Because of the outbound delay I had to re-schedule the inbound journey for an earlier ferry as we had a plane to catch at Gibraltar and I was concerned the return ferry would be delayed and we would miss our flight. Re-scheduling the ferry was very easy, checking in was easy and no additional cost was involved so the return journey was less stressful than the outbound journey. The inbound ferry was 1 hour late. My advice to ferry users is allow for 1-2 hour delays when planning your journey. Ferrysavers was very helpful and provided a very good service.

First time to Tanger, crossing going over was perfect and on time. Coming back was a different story, we left an hour after our scheduled. Having said that, the overall experience was good, I would recommend Ferrysavers

01 Aug 2019Ferry to Tangier

We found the check in process was a little difficult to navigate. The signage was not clear, so we were often in the wrong line or place. After getting through that and onto the ferry, we also didn't know that we had to stand in another line to have our passports checked again to enter Morocco I think. We had a little snack which was very good. The seas were a little rough that morning, so A LOT of the people on board were getting very sea sick! The staff on board were very quick to clean up after people's sea sickness. They were definitely up to the task! On the way back that evening, we had a different vessel, which was really nice! There was almost no movement felt at all! Everything was neat and clean and comfy. When we returned to the dock, we again had to go through the customs (?) area and be checked, but that line was more straight forward. All in all, we had a great journey, and a great day in Tangiers!

Turn up, get on sail across on comfortable seats, have a fun day, and return. That's what we wanted, that's what we got. Not cheap but was worth the effort.
