The under 1 hour crossing is made on the brand-new purpose built catamaran Pentalina, which was launched in March 2009. This was the first time I journeyed this route.check in was very quick and the 1 hour journey passed quickly. I did not visit the cafeteria so cannot comment on that not did I need to interact with any on board crew. I spent most of my outward journey on deck taking in the scenery. Disembarkation was equally efficient and quick. The booking process was easy and would not hesitate in using this route again.

We totally enjoyed our crossing from Gills Bay to St Margarets Hope.the views were fantastic as my partner is a photographer,he was in his element..I too enjoy scenery and took alot of pictures ..It was windy up top deck but that's only to be expected,it's part of the fun..We hope to do this crossing again in the future..

Fairly straight forward to book. Very efficient loading and unloading on the ferry. Friendly staff. It is an expensive strip of water, but Pentland Ferries are worth travelling with.
