Pentland Ferries Routes

Pentland Ferries is a family run low-coast ferry operator offering the shortest crossing to Orkney for cars and passengers. Pentland was established by Andre and Susan Banks in 2001. The under 1 hour crossing is made on the brand-new purpose built catamaran Pentalina, which was launched in March 2009. On the journey you can look out for porpoises, dolphins, puffins, minke whales, and even basking sharks in the summer, all from the sundeck and 2 lounges with excellent panoramic views.

      Over to Orkney
      • Great booking in as friendly staff walk the line no need to leave your vehicle. Load ok if you are a car, loaders when loading camper-vans were not checking heights when reversing vehicles as friends van nearly damaged the roof

      Great service to Orkney
      • Very impressed with ferry trip across to Orkney. One hour crossing and pretty smooth journey considering I'm not a great sea farer! Food onboard is basic but perfectly adequate for length of crossing and very well priced. Would definitely recommend and use again.
