Special Offers

Pentland Ferries is a family run low-coast ferry operator offering the shortest crossing to Orkney for cars and passengers. Pentland was established by Andre and Susan Banks in 2001. The under 1 hour crossing is made on the brand-new purpose built catamaran Pentalina, which was launched in March 2009. On the journey you can look out for porpoises, dolphins, puffins, minke whales, and even basking sharks in the summer, all from the sundeck and 2 lounges with excellent panoramic views.

    Very pleased with booking
    • We got the wrong dimensions of our hire vehicle. The staff in the reception were so kind and managed to alter the booking so that we could get the sailing time we wanted. Thanks to them

    Trip to The Orkneys
    • Fairly straight forward to book. Very efficient loading and unloading on the ferry. Friendly staff. It is an expensive strip of water, but Pentland Ferries are worth travelling with.

    Mishap
    • I booked with yourselves to travel with car and bike carrier on rear of vehicle but at the terminals for both journeys Pentland Ferries had no record of this. I had to pay £5 each way. If your records show that I did book the bikes then I would like a refund of £10. Please contact me about this
