Situated in the Cyclades, the island of Sikinos is very small and home to only two major settlements, one of which is the village of Alopronia where Sikinos ferry port is to be found. Transport to and from the port of Sikinos can be difficult due to the mountainous terrain, so it is best to travel there by foot.
Sikinos is a very small island with a population of less than 250 people, but it is home to plenty of historic and natural sites that are fascinating, such as the Zoodohos monastery and the Mavri Spilia caves that can only be accessed by boat. However, the main reason that people come to this island is to experience a bit of traditional, rural Greece as well as coming here to relax and rejuvenate on one of the pretty beaches.
