Turku ferry port offers daily services to Sweden and Aland and cruises across the Gulf of Bothnia. Turku ferry port also handles the traffic to and from the Archipelago Sea.
Turku was founded in the 13th century and is the oldest and fifth largest city in Finland. Lying by the Baltic Sea and sheltered by the islands of the Archipelago Sea, Turku experiences warm summers and relatively cold winters with frequent snowfall. Turku offers many cultural venues including several theatres, cinemas and art galleries and houses regular cultural events, most notably the Medieval Market in July each year and the Turku Music Festival. Since Turku has always played an important part in the Finnish history, it has numerous museums such as the Turku Art Museum and Turku Castle which has been functional historical museum since 1881. Turku is the official Christmas city of Finland making a visit during that time of year very special indeed.
