About Valverde/El Hierro
El Hierro, like all the Canaries, is a volcanic island. It is a pretty steep island, the highest point is around 5000 feet but less than three miles away from both the north and south coasts. There are a few villages (La Caleta and Restinga, for example) and one town (Frontera) close to the sea level. Valverde is the capital of the island of El Hierro. It is a very quiet city, which is surrounded by beautiful nature. This place is situated around 600-700 metres above the sea level. It is a beautiful place, which attracts lots of tourists.
