The town of Birkenhead is located in Merseyside on the western bank of the river Mersey. Situated opposite the city of Liverpool, Birkenhead has a wealth of attractions to entertain visitors to the town, such as the picturesque Birkenhead Park, which was the first publicly funded park in Britain and inspired the design of New York's famous Central Park. Another of Birkenhead's attractions is the local museum located inside Birkenhead's old town hall; the museum features the history of the borough of Wirral and Birkenhead itself.

    Comfy cabins but salty car!
    • We took the overnight ferry and were surprised to find our car had to be parked in the open air top deck. This meant that all the windows were covered with salt which made visibility difficult. We had to stop on the motorway to wash them! Otherwise, the cabins were comfy but a loose ladder to the top bunk banged all night. Overall everything was fine though.
