Durres Information

Durres ferry port is situated about 33 km west of the capital Tirana, opposite the Italian port of Bari. Durres ferry port offers direct access to the city centre.

Durres is the most ancient and most important cities of Albania. Durres is constantly modernising its city centre while retaining its classic architecture; the main library, the cultural centre with the Aleksander Moisiu theatre and the Estrada Theatre are among some of the best examples. The largest amphitheatre in the Balkans is located in the city close to the harbour and is being considered to join the UNESCO World Heritage list. There are also several museums such as the Archaeological Museum and the Museum of History. The beaches of Durres are also rightly very popular with the visitors as well as with the locals.


Bari Information

Bari is located on Italy's Adriatic coast and is the capital of the Apulia (Puglia in Italian) region, and is a well known as both a university city and as a busy international port. Bari is also known as the city of Saint Nicholas, who was the original Santa Claus. Saint Nicholas is also the patron saint of foreigners and as a result the inhabitants of Bari have always been open minded towards visitors from other countries, and are well known for their excellent hospitality and kindness.

Bari is renowned for its proud culinary traditions, in particular "Orecchiette alle cime di rapa", that is, little ear-shaped pasta with turnip tops, amongst much more superb Italian food. The city contains some amazing sights, such as the Basilica of Saint Nicholas and the Cathedral of San Sabino in the city's old town district.
