Salina ferry port is located on the island of the same name which is the second largest of the Aeolian Islands after Lipari, north of Sicily. Salina ferry port is Santa Marina and connects directly to Napoli ferry ferry port.
Salina is the most fertile of the Aeolian isles, and grapes grown on Salina are used to make Malvasia wine. The local variety is called Malvasia delle Lipari. The island also exports capers and caperberries internationally. Salina also offers some archeological attractions such as several Roman tombs on the slopes of the Fossa and the Sanctuary of the Madonna del Terzito which attracts many pilgrims on the main feast day (23rd July) every year.
There are two ports in Salina, the main one is Santa Marina Salina, which has a marina for yachts. Santa Marina is very convenient for everyone who is staying either in Santa Marina or Malfa. Most of the sailings stop at the tiny port of Rinella, on the south of the island.
There is a taxi service in Santa Marina Salina if you require to be somewhere fast. There are buses there as well. You can find the bus stop in Santa Marina right outside the Siremar office and the Mercanti di Mare hotel. The services run regularly between Santa Marina, Malfa and Leni. However, if you would like to explore the island more thoroughly then better hire a car or a scooter. At Santa Marina Salina, cars and scooters can be rented at Antonio Bongiorno. In the same place you can hire a boat or you can book a guided boat tour around the island.
